Dear Exhibitors and Members of the Southern California Paint Horse Club,
It is with much sadness that the members of SCPHC must announce the cancelation of our August 7-10, So Cal Classic Horseshow. We have worked very hard over the last 10 years to provide a premier event for exhibitors in the southern California area. Unfortunately for us a number of events have occurred this year that make putting on our horseshow the wrong choice for our club. This year, the Zone 1 show moves to the same weekend as our show, in the past we have always worked with the Zone 1 so there is no conflicting dates and actually advertised with them to encourage exhibitors throughout the United States to come to the west coast for a great Circuit, our 8 judge show & the Zone 1 show. But because of facility difficulties neither of us was able to move our dates this year. We felt many exhibitors that had missed out on the Zone 2 show, due to the conflict with a California double pointed show, would now try to make up the points they missed for the nation by attending the Zone 1 show. We also received phone calls that stated pretty much the same; many exhibitors were planning on attending the Zone 1 show. Unfortunately no one had the foresight to realize that by approving so many double pointed shows early on in the season, the shows later in the year would be much smaller and not as appealing to the exhibitor, especially those running for national points. So for our club with so many things working against us; conflicting dates with Zone 1 and Reichert Celebration, both large events which will pull many exhibitors from all over the United States and California, the large number of judges exhibitors have already shown to in California, the understandable need for the exhibitor to make their dollar go farther (large classes, many points) we felt our best option was to cancel our show.
We would like to say thank you to the exhibitors and trainers who have supported our shows over the years. For our sponsors we would like to say thank you again! Your information will be included with all our Ride Like A Rockstar mailings, posted on our website, announced at our shows, and announced at our year end awards banquet. For those of you who joined our club in April for our loyalty awards program, that were to be awarded at the August show, we will be happy to refund your membership or apply it towards our Ride Like a Rockstar Series membership. Our Rockstar Series will be held July 19, August 3, and September 14 in Poway California. This event is not a CCC approved event, but an APHA Specialty Event and open show series. We will not be holding Pinto approved classes this year, as we could not get approval from the local Pinto club, but we hope to be able to do so next year and offer exhibitors an even better place to show colored horses!
As a club we are committed to promoting the growth of the Paint horse in Southern California, providing great horseshows for exhibitors, and returning to what attracted all of us to the breed to begin with; a great day spent with the family showing great Paint horses!
Sincerely,
The Members of the Southern California Paint Horse Club
